About this guide

This guide will show you how to get your alchemy skill up from 0 to 300. The guide will only use recipe’s available at a trainer until 265 and vendor available recipes from 265 to 300.

This guide only uses recipes that require herbs and vendor bought material (vials).

This guide does not tell you how to get all the different recipes from quests, vendors or drops. What you do once you hit 300 is entirely up to you. This guide will not tell you what to do with the potions you make either.

This guide is primarily aimed at those who want to switch profession at high level or have high-level alts, friends or guild members.

Preparation

You are going to need a lot of herbs. Create an alt storage character to store these herbs and then farm (or have an alt farm) for the herbs needed. Use the in game mail system to send the herbs to the storage character. Don’t forget to send some gold to the storage character, so she can send the herbs back.

Once you have all the components collected, everything has to be sent back to your main character. The mailbox only shows the first 50 items you have in the mail. It also puts the last item send to you on top. So to avoid complications send the components you need first last: i.e. Peacebloom and Silverleaf are needed first, so these are the last to be send back to your main, after the Briarthorn, Mageroyal, etc.

The recipe’s used require vendor bought components such as vials. These cost gold. To learn recipes from a trainer also costs gold. The amount of gold needed is approximately 40 to 50 gold if you farm all of the herbs. If you want to buy everything you need from the auction house expect to spend upwards to 225 gold. This does not include gold for recipes from vendors or the auction house.

Below is a table that shows the amount of herbs needed. The minimum amount column shows the minimum amount needed if you would get a skill point every time you make something. However at some point a recipe will be yellow or even green when you make something so you won’t always get a skill point. The estimated amount column deals with this, so try to get the estimated amount of herbs on your storage character. If you are buying all the herbs you need from the auction house, I suggest getting the minimum amount and only buy more when needed.

Component Minimum Amount Estimated Amount
Peacebloom 60 (3 stacks) 60 (3 stacks)
Silverleaf 60 (3 stacks) 60 (3 stacks)
Mageroyal 15 (1 stacks) 20 (1 stacks)
Briarthorn 80 (4 stacks) 90 (5 stacks)
Stranglekelp 40 (2 stacks) 50 (3 stacks)
Bruiseweed 30 (2 stacks) 35 (2 stacks)
Wild Steelbloom 5 (1 stacks) 10 (1 stacks)
Kingsblood 30 (2 stacks) 40 (2 stacks)
Liferoot 30 (2 stacks) 40 (2 stacks)
Goldthorn 45 (3 stacks) 50 (2 stacks)
Khadgar’s Whisker 15 (1 stacks) 20 (1 stacks)
Sungrass 60 (3 stacks) 70 (4 stacks)
Blindweed 30 (2 stacks) 35 (2 stacks)
Arthas’ Tears 20 (1 stacks) 25 (2 stacks)
Golden Sansam 40 (2 stacks) 60 (3 stacks)
Mountain Silversage 20 (1 stacks) 30 (2 stacks)

Getting from 1 to 50
Getting from 1 to 50 is easy enough. Make 60 minor healing potions. This should get you to skill 60. You need at least skill 55 for the next step; so don’t worry if you didn’t get to 60. Keep the minor healing potions, you will need them later.
Once you hit 50 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Journeyman Alchemist. You have to be level 10 to become Journeyman Alchemist.
This table shows the different recipes used to get from 0 to 50.

Skill Item From – To
1 Minor Healing Potion 0 – 60 (60)

Getting from 50 to 125
Use the minor healing potions made earlier to make lesser healing potions to get to 110. If you didn’t reach 110, make elixirs of wisdom until you do.
At 110 you can train the healing potion recipe. Make those until skill 125.

Once you hit 125 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Expert Alchemist. You have to be level 20 to become Expert Alchemist.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 50 to 125.

Skill Item From – To
55 Lesser Healing Potion 60 – 110 (50)
90 Elixir of Wisdom 105 – 110 (5)
110 Healing Potion 110 – 125 (15)

Getting from 125 to 200
Make some more healing potions to get to skill 140. Make lesser mana potions to get to 155, greater healing potions to get to 185 and elixirs of agility to get to 200.
Once you hit 200 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Artisan Alchemist. You have to be level 35 to become Artisan Alchemist.
This table shows the different recipes used to get from 125 to 200.

Skill Item From – To
110 Healing Potion 125 – 140 (15)
120 Lesser Mana Potion 140 – 155 (15)
155 Greater Healing Potion 155 – 185 (30)
185 Elixir of Agility 185 – 200 (15)

Getting from 200 to 265
Make some more elixirs of agility to get to 210. Make elixirs of greater defence until 215 and then make superior healing potions until 230. Make elixirs of detect undead to get to 250 and elixir of greater agility to get to 265.
This table shows the different recipes used to get from 200 to 265.

Skill Item From – To
185 Elixir of Agility 200 – 210 (10)
195 Elixir of Greater Defence 210 – 215 (5)
215 Superior Healing Potion 215 – 230 (15)
230 Elixir of Detect Undead 230 – 250 (20)
240 Elixir of Greater Agility 250 – 265 (15)

Getting from 265 to 300
Although you can get to 300 using the elixir of detect demon recipe, the Gromsblood needed is expensive when bought from the auction house so I decided to use vendor available recipe’s to get from 265 to 300.

Get the superior mana potion recipe from Ulthir in Darnassus or Algernon in Undercity and the major healing potion recipe from Evie Whirlbrew in Everlook.
Make superior mana potion to get to skill 285 and major healing potions to get to 300.

Congratulations, you now have 300 skill in alchemy.

This table shows the different recipes that are available through vendors to get from 265 to 300.

Skill Item From – To
260 Superior Mana Potion 265 – 285 (20)
275 Major Healing Potion 280 – 300 (20)

This table shows who and where the different vendors are for the previously mentioned recipe’s.

What Who Where
Superior Mana Potion Ulthir (Alliance Faction)
Algernon (Horde Faction) Darnassus
Undercity
Major Healing Potion Evie Whirlbrew (Neutral) Everlook in Winterspring

This probably isn’t the most easiest strat to start, but i did notice that once i started it, i made quite a lot of gold. Basically, what you’ll be doing is, selling savory deviate delights, which sell for 50s in my server (Cenerion Circle). Ok, since this takes steps, i’m going to provide them now

1. You must have a cooking skill of 85, and a fishing skill of 30

2. Once you have those two down, you’ll need the recipe called Savory Deviate Delight. You can get it by grinding various mobs in The Barrens, or, you can do what i did, and buy it in the AH for about 30-40g. Here is the link http://thottbot.com/?i=678

3. Now you’re ready, head over to the barrens, and go to the walling caverns, an instance in the barrens (levels 18-21 i think).

4. Start fishing inside the walling caverns with your selected fishing macro, or just fish, and dontuse a macro at all. It really doesnt matter where you fish, it doesnt have to be directly inside ofthe instance portal, but i did find that i got a little more Deviate Fish (the fish you are lookingfor) inside the instance of walling caverns. *The Deviate Fish don’t ALWAYS drop, but it seems to be about a 50/50 chance of getting them*

5. Make as many Savory Deviate Delights as you can, and you can sell them for 50 silver apiece in the Auction House.Suggestion: You might want to be over level 40 to try this out, because you’re going to pull a lot of aggro while in the walling caverns if you’re lower, and you’ll have a harder time fighting off those elites.

The best thing about this is that you can go afk, i wouldn’t suggest going afk all night, id be too afraid that id get a PM from a GM or something.. and get banned. Otherwise, you’re probably going to be fine if you’re afk for about 2-3 hours.. or however long you feel is right. Anyways, last night i popped in a movie, put a fish macro on, after the movie was over, i checked my inventory and there were 45 Deviate Fish, made the Savory Deviate Delights, and sold them all for a total amount of 25g.

Oh yes, i forgot to mention, the Delights can make you transform into a pirate, an assassin, a blob, it can make your cast time a lot faster… its random every time, but pretty interesting, and in my server, i noticed that a lot of level 60s like to buy these out and entertain lower levels in Iron Forge. I know this is a lot of work to get it started, but i feel it’s well worth it in the end, feel free to post problems and questions you may have. If this is a re-post of some sort, i’m sorry, i searched for it and didn’t find anything on it, it can be deleted if needed, no big deal.

This requires a two man team. A Hunter (with a cat) and a Rogue.

You have a rouge stealth to the first vein in ZG. Normally before the bats that explode. Then have your hunter send in his cat stealthed to the rich hakkarian vein and jump out of prowl and aggro all the mobs. the rogue with 300 mining has about a 10 sec window to mine the vein while the mobs guarding the vein are chasing the hunters cat. Run out rinse and repeat.

It takes a lot of practice, but you can get the runs down to under 5 min and also loot the voodoo dolls. Souldrait also drops which can go for 50g each.

Level 1-12:

Newbie Zone :: You may have to leave at level 11.

Level 12-20:

  Westfall [Sentinel Hill, Westfall Lighthouse]

Loch Modan [Thelsamar, Farstrider's Lodge, Stonewrought Dam]

Darkshore [Auberdine]

Elite Area: Mo’grosh mound (Loch Modan)

Instance: Deadmines

Complete the easiest quests in the first area that you go to (Night Elves should visit Darkshore first, Dwarves/Gnomes should visit Loch Modan first, Humans should visit Westfall first.) Move onto the next zone, and do the same, but this time you can complete more of the zone. Leave the most difficult, unless you can get a group for them – don’t waste too much time on it, though. Move onto the last zone and complete all, or nearly all of the quests available in that zone. By this time, you should be about level 17-18. Go back to the first zone, and complete the rest of the quests there.

Typically, my ‘first zone’ is Westfall, in which case you can go back when you are done with both Loch Modan and Darkshore, and finish the Van Cleef line of quests and be at a good level to run the instance.

Level 20-22:

Redridge Mountains [Lakeshire, Tower of Azora in Elwynn]

Again, do the easy quests in Redridge, which should take you up to level 21 or 22. Skip the more difficult quests unless you have a group for them. I’d skip the entire Stonewatch Keep area of quests just simply because that entire area itself is crap.

Level 22-30:

Redridge Mountains [Lakeshire, Tower of Azora in Elwynn]

    Duskwood [Darkshire, Sven's Camp, Abercrombie]

Wetlands [Menethil Harbor, Greenwarden, N. Loch Modan (The Algaz Gauntlet)]

Ashenvale [Astranaar ?]

Stonetalon Mountains [?]

Elite Area: Dun Modr (Wetlands)

Instance: The Stockades

Instance: Shadowfang Keep

Instance: Blackfathom Deeps

Happy Loot: Naraxis’ Fang (Duskwood)

Happy Loot: Tiny Crimson Whelpling (Wetlands)

Grind Area [26]: Dragonmaw Encampment (Wetlands)

Grind Area [26]: Whelgar’s Excavation Site (Wetlands)

Grind Area [28]: Rotting Orchard (Duskwood)

Grind Area [28]: Raven Hill Cemetary (Duskwood)

Grind Area [29]: Vul’Gol Ogre Mound (Duskwood)

Preparation: Purchase Bronze Tube.

Start at either Duskwood or Wetlands. This is where ‘quest stacking’ can come in really handy if you want to be efficient. There are many, many quests that send you to the same areas, and if you get all of the quests at once, you can knock all of them out without having to run back and forth. Considering Wetlands and Duskwood are fairly bad for having their towns on one side of the map and the quest mobs/areas on the other side, this saves a lot of time. A lot of these are parts of quest chains, so honestly it’s hard to know if you don’t have prior knowledge or do a lot of quest research beforehand – so don’t worry about it too much, but try to be as efficient as you can. Once you finish one of the two new areas, you should be about level 25 and can go finish the harder parts of Redridge, and then finish the last zone.

Note for Stockades : There are 6 quests you can obtain for this instance. Lakeshire, Darkshire, Wetlands, Van Cleef note continuation (Bazil Thredd), and two from Stormwind.

Level 31-37:

Stranglethorn Vale [Rebel Camp, Nesingwary's Expedition, Booty Bay]

    Hillsbrad Foothills [Southshore]

Arathi Highlands [Refuge Pointe]

Desolace [32]

Thousand Needles [31]

Instance: Gnomeregan

Happy Loot: Howling Blade (Skhowl, Alterac Mountains)

Happy Loot: Toxic Revenger (Gnomeregan)

Happy Loot: Tiny Emerald Whelpling (Swamp of Sorrows)

Grind Area [31]: Kurzen Encampment (Stranglethorn Vale)

Grind Area [33]: Stranglethorn Raptors (Stranglethorn Vale)

Grind Area [33]: Growless Cave (Alterac Mountains)

Grind Area [34]: Gallow’s Corner (Crushridge Ogres – Altarac Mountains)

Grind Area [36]: Venture Co. Base Camp (Lake Nazferiti – Stranglethorn Vale)

Preparation: Purchase all 15 pages of The Green Hills of Stranglethorn, 4 Bloodstone Ore.

Start at Stranglethorn Vale. Quest stacking here is also godly, since you don’t want to have to run all the way to the northern end of the zone, do one or two quests and turn them back in at Booty Bay. Rebel Camp’s quests are largely independent of the rest, though, so you can do those first. Then, head to Booty Bay, where you can pick up two main quests for the northern area: Investigate the Camp and the start of the Excelsior chain, both of which takes you to Nesingwary’s Expedition, where you obtain all of the nice happy quests there.

Hillsbrad is only good starting at about level 33, at which point you can actually *do* all of the quests that you could obtain at level 30… Arathi only has one or two quests that you can actually do right now, but it’s listed anyways.

Kurzen Cave has been fixed, which perhaps means that Jungle Fighters and Headshrinkers have as well, so someone test that out please.

Level 37-43:

Stranglethorn Vale

Arathi Mountains [Refuge Pointe, Faldir's Cove]

Badlands [Various camps around the zone]

Desolace [37]

Elite Area: Stromgarde

Elite Area: Mosh’ogg Mound

Instance: Scarlet Monastery

Instance: Uldaman

Instance: Razorfen Downs

Happy Loot: Tiny Black Whelpling (Badlands)

Grind Area [37]: Lashtail Raptors (Stranglethorn Vale)

Grind Area [37]: Water Elementals (Stranglethorn Vale)

Grind Area [39]: The spider cave north of Brackenwall (Swamp of Sorrows)

Grind Area [39]: Rock Elementals (Badlands)

Grind Area [39]: Elder Crag Coyotes (Badlands)

Grind Area [41]: Scalding Whelps (Badlands)

Grind Area [41]: Agmond’s End (Badlands)

Grind Area [41]: Ziata’jai Ruins (Venture Co. Stuff, Stranglethorn Vale)

Grind Area [43]: Naga Explorers (Stranglethorn Vale)

Preparation: Purchase 9 Blue Pearls, 1 Frost Oil, 1 Gyrochronatom, 4 Buzzard Wings, 1 Elixir of Water Breathing.

37 is where you obtain your next batch of quests from Stranglethorn Vale. Arathi Highlands has fairly decent quests in Faldir’s Cove, or if you’re feeling group-friendly, knock out the ones in Stromgarde. Badlands has a lot of nice quests, but you have to actually find them. This is where supplementing experience by grinding becomes more efficient at times, and at 42-43 you should be closing the last of your Stranglethorn quests, and be finished with Badlands and Arathi both, as well.

Scarlet Monastery. Black Menace or Sword of Serenity. Nothing more needs to be said – except where to obtain the quest: Desolace.

Level 43-46:

Feralas [Feathermoon Stronghold]

Tanaris [Gadgetzan, Steamwheedle Port]

Instance: Zul’Farrak

Grind Area [43]: Wastewander Bandits (Tanaris)

Grind Area [44]: Isle of Dread (Feralas – Inside Cave; South of Feathermoon Stronghold)

Grind Area [45]: Feral Scar Vale (Feralas)

Happy Loot: 14slot bag! Cortello’s Riddle quest, starts in one of the ships in Stranglethorn Vale for the end of the Bloodsail Buccaneers line of quests.Fairly self explanatory, I guess. Not much going on here, really.

Level 46-50:

Tanaris [Gadgetzan, Steamwheedle Port]

    The Hinterlands [Aerie Peak]

Instance: Zul’Farrak

Instance: Maraudon [49]

Instance: Temple of Atal’Hakkar [50]

Grind Area [47]: Undead in Western Ashzara (Azshara)

Grind Area [47]: Dunemaul Compound (Tanaris)

Grind Area [47]: Elementals/Golems around The Cauldron + N of it (Searing Gorge) – Elemental Leatherworking Supplies

At this point, you more than likely have a bunch of quests saved up for The Hinterlands – including but not limited to, the quest to gather Wildkin Feathers (from Rutheran Village), the quest to obtain a snapshot of Gammerita, the quest to obtain Violet Trajan, the last part of Cortello’s Riddle, etc. Feel free to knock them all out at once.

Level 50-55:

Searing Gorge [Kalaran Windblade]

    Blasted Lands

Un’Goro Crater [Marshal's Refuge]

Felwood [Emerald Sanctuary]

Burning Steppes [Morgan's Vigil]

Instance: Temple of Atal’Hakkar

Grind Area [50]: Deadwood Village (Felwood)

Grind Area [51]: Ruins of Eldarath (Azshara)

Grind Area [52]: Dreadmaul Rock (Firegut Ogres – Burning Steppes)

Grind Area [52]: Legash Encampment, Thalassian Base Camp, Ursolan (Azshara)

Grind Area [52]: Jaedenar (Felwood)

Grind Area [52]: Sorrow Hill (Western Plaguelands)

Grind Area [53]: Ironwood Trees in northern Felwood

Grind Area [54]: Temple of Arkkoran (Azshara)

Grind Area [55]: Jadefire Run, Felpaw Village (Felwood)

The quests in Blasted Lands all stack on top of each other. Five in total, one for each stat; they give 4700 experience per turn-in, along with always the chance of obtaining a Draenethyst Sphere for Kumi’sha the Collector with every mob you kill. Un’Goro Crater has the biggest collection of quests out of all of these zones.

Level 55-60:

Winterspring [Everlook, Starfall Village]

Western Plaguelands [Chillwind Point]

Eastern Plaguelands

Instance: Blackrock Depths

Instance: Blackrock Spire [60]

Instance: Stratholme [60]

Instance: Scholomance [60]

Grind Area [55]: Felstone Field, Dalson’s Tears, The Writhing Haunt, Gahrron’s Withering (Western Plaguelands)

Grind Area [56]: Northridge Lumber Camp (Western Plaguelands)

Grind Area [56]: Corin’s Crossing (Eastern Plaguelands)

Grind Area [56]: The Pillar of Ash (Burning Steppes)

Grind Area [56]: Winterfall Village (Winterspring)

Grind Area [57]: Blackrock Stronghold (Burning Steppes) [NOTE]

Grind Area [57]: Ice Thistle Hills (Wintespring) – Rugged Leathers

Notes: Blackrock Stronghold is probably the best place to grind for a rogue; however, you do have to get used to how the roamers work. You’ll probably die a few times along the way while learning them. Also, this might likely be another area where they’re increasing the armor on the mobs, but two of the four kinds of orcs that spawn are casters, anyway. Ice Thistle Hills is not the best place to grind for experience, but it’s probably one of the better places to get a nice quiet grind going and also leave with a few backpacks full of Rugged Leather.

This is probably the best way to get money for your epic mount. I spent roughly 5 days of 11am-11pm. I started on Monday, and by the next Monday I bought my epic mount. There are, however some requirements for this, which the details follow on below. I have tested both frost and fire specs with this strategy and they both seem fine, however the fire spec tends to increase the efficiency.

Requirements

A level 60 Mage with

EITHER

Frost Spec with Ice Barrier and improved Arcane Explosion

OR

Fire Spec with combustion and blast wave

Step 1

Head over to Scarlet Monastery and pop yourself in the graveyard instance.

Step 2

Kill all the NPCs in the hallway and room as normal APART FROM THE GROUP OF 4, which I will show you how to kill below. What’s below should be enough, if you feel under threat, use mana shield.

Fire Spec:

Enable Combustion -> Blast Wave -> Arcane Explosion (repeat until they are all about 15% health) -> Frost Nova (then move back) -> Flamestrike -> Cone of Cold.

Frost Spec:

Ice Barrier -> Arcane Explosion (repeat until they are all about 15% health) -> Frost Nova (then move back) -> Blizzard -> Cone of Cold.

Step 3

OK, now that room is over. Carry on through the next corridor, killiung as normal. When you get into the graveyard, stop. This is where your income comes from. Make sure you have full health, mana and plenty of spirits to pull Then do the following:

Fire Spec:

Mana Shield -> Combustion

NOW RUN AROUND AND PULL AROUND 25 SPIRITS. AVOID THE ELITES. STOP PULLING IF YOU ARE DOWN TO HALF HEALTH AND THEN…

Mana Potion (if required) -> Blast Wave -> Frost Nova -> Walk away so they cant hit u before they die

Frost Spec:

Ice Barrier

NOW RUN AROUND AND PULL AROUND 25 SPIRITS. AVOID THE ELITES. YOU MAY NEED TO USE MANA SHIELD AFTER BARRIER DROPS. STOP PULLING IF YOU ARE DOWN TO HALF HEALTH AND THEN…

Mana Potion (if required) -> Arcane Explosion (repeate until all are dead, this is usually around 4 explosions)

Step 4

Now you have killed loads and loads of spirits, loot them… you will get plenty of money along with green items, which you can choose to sell at AH or Vendor when you’re done. You can carry on into the building at the end and kill the NPC’s and boss in there, then come out and reset instance, and go straight back in and do it all again (until your bags are full).

Angerclaw Maulers
Felwood, X37, Y44.

I’ve posted about this spot before awhile back but I’m taking it upon myself to do so again because I have made a sickly amount of gold here latley, and a very disturbing amount in the past 2 weeks.

As a 60 Rogue in full epic gear(bloodfang) I can kill these in about 7 seconds each, literally. The respawn rate is insanely fast, When you kill the whole spawn camp of them which is about 11-12 and take a 1 minute break you’ll start having respawns to kill.

Where does the money come from you ask?

Firstly you have some stackable gray items that are very commonly dropped:

Large Bear Bone(Non-Stackable) – 14s 84c each

Bear Jaw(Stackable) – 8s 98c — 89s 80c per Stack of 10.

Savage Bear Claw(Stackable) – 5s 78c — 57s 80c per Stack of 10.

Bear Flank(Stackable) – 5s 78c — 57s 80c per Stack of 10.

Wicked Claw(Stackable) – 5s — 25s per Stack of 5.

I make anywhere from 9 to 13g in gray items per hour here.

Even without the skinning compared to most places this is a great camp for gold/hr. But skinning is where a lot of the money to come from if you want the results like I get.

You can skin Rugged and Thick leather off of these. My server prices are 2.50g per stack of Rugged and 1.50g per stack of Thick. Server prices are going to range, The intake of gold on this obviously is based only on my servers prices, But you will still make amazing gold here if you put the time in.

So where does all the money come from?

I take 8 hours a day and I run it here, Straight. Not every day, Usually in the evenings and into the late hours on the nights I’m not raiding and ocasionally if there is a third day I’ll get up around 7am to start and I can be done around mid afternoon so I can enjoy the day or do something else in game.

A single hour run brings on brings me in 6 Stacks of Rugged Leather and 5 stacks of Thick Leather. I don’t know if it’s because my kill rate is fast or just pure luck, But I can’t remember when I have come away from this with less leather then that in an hours run.

6x 2.50g = 15g per hour
5x 1.50g = 7.5g per hour

If I average out my usual grey items income per hour then I come away with 10.5g per hour. I’m going to edit this tomorrow and record all of my drops and leather intake from my 8 hours, But this is accurate. I’ve been making money like this for months now.

Now, On to the juicy part…

Intake per hour based on Leather sales on the AH is 22.50g Per HOUR.

Intake per hour based on sellable greys averages out at about 10.50g

33 Gold per hour.
Wipe the drool off keyboard and keep reading

I run this 8 hours per day, Two days a week. Sometimes 3 but rarely. Skinning is obviously required to get the bigger chuck of change for your time. Some of you all day BG’ers could make litterally thousands of gold here in a week if you took a week off from all day long BG and went here, Just a thought. And I’m not exaggerating. Thousands.

I try to run these 2 days back to back and I generally refuse to put up my auctions and vendor until I have my 16 hours worth of loot. I just throw it all in the bank.

At the end of my 2 days I usually end up taking 510g – 545g out of my mailbox. +\- a few gold for randomness of drops.

I have over 5000g in my bag right now. If you want an exact number then it’s 5649g. All of that gold was made in this spot except about 600g.

This method of making gold has gotten me 1000 gold in no time, allowing me to purchase anything I want. This guide requires you to be someone who can stealth and an enchanter (at least 125 skill level). Also you must be a high level capable of killing 40+ elites. If you cannot stealth, you can still farm like this but the time you spend killing the mobs between bosses can really shoot your gold per hour rate (Hunters may be able to feign death in, never played one though).

Free up 5 or 6 slots in your bags.

Fly to Theramore Isle and go south and enter Razorfen Downs.

Follow the map.

Kill Glutton, drops Fleshhide Shoulders most of the time, disenchant.

Follow the path around and around until you get to Amnemnar the Coldbringer, kill him, and he sometimes drops two blues, disenchant them.

This step depends on your AoE capability. Mordresh Fire Eye has a lot of skellies around him that will attack you when you attack him. Druids will do this easily, but rogues may have a hard time (be creative on the ways to kill him).

Leave the instance and then reset. Do this a max number of five times an hour. After your farming session, go back to your nearest auction place.

And that’s it! When you disenchanted the blues you got Small Radiant Shards. These are a popular item that is always on demand. On my server, the price for a 4 stack is around 16-17g. I always 4 stack them (fiery enchant mats). I sell them for 15g, and say I get 16-20 shards a session, that is 4×15 = 60g!

This is best done with two players – preferably a rogue and hunter, but can be soloed by hunters, priests, and really crafty rogues.

Location: Dire Maul – West (best to use south entrance to the west side).

In every instance made in all of Dire maul there is a chest spawn & usually a Dusty Tome spawn. In west, there are four spots that the chest spawns, two of which can be gotten very quickly & with few mobs. There are also two Dusty Tome spawn locations (that I know), butonly 1 location is easy to get to….just so happens it is about 3 feet from one of the chest locations.

In each chest there is a level 50-55 green, some are pretty good, also some change and 1 in about every 25-50 chests have a blue BOE usually worth 60-100g. All the greens dc into Greater eternal essence and illusion dust, Or you can vendor most items for about 3-5g a piece or sell onthe AH. The Dusty Tomes are where the real money is though….90% of the tomes will give youa junk book “nat pagles extreme fishing…” and pocket lint – the rest of the time you will get oneof any of the blue class books (each sell in AH from 45g-90g) and an equal chance to get Furor’sCompendium of Demonslaying (Warriors epic book) = anywhere from 1500g to 2400g. I havefound several now and all sold within a few hours on AH for 2000g

Now the strategy… You enter west on south side. The tome & chest spawn location is in the initialroom you come into, before you get to Shen’dralar Ancient. As you are looking at the room from the portal, the chest will be across the room on left side (there is another spawn location on the right side – but after you do this a while, you will see it is more profitable to only look for the left side one).

If you use an Ornate spyglass you can position yourself on a corner right next to the instanceportal (about 15ft from it) and look down to the south west corner with the chest & tome. (for the first while you will want to run down and make sure nothing spawns till you know exactly where to look). If you don’t see the chest or tome, run out the instance and reset it…round tripon an empty instance is about 30seconds or less. IF the chest spawns in that spot(bout 25% of the instances) there will be 3 to 4 tree creeps guarding it. The easiest way to get to them is to have a rogue position behind the chest ready to take it & have another class move up and agro the three trees then turn & run out the instance while the rogue loots. Once you get used to it,you can loot and be back to reset in under 2min.

Hunters can solo this by using Eyes of the beast & taking the agro to the other side of theinstance, then dismiss their pet, grab the loot & move to a safe spot to feign death.ner right next to the instanceportal (bout 15ft from it) and look down to the south west corner with the chest & tome.

Levels 30-40 can be a real pain in the ass for Horde, as quests dry up pretty quickly, and then you’re forced to migrate to another area, which may be faraway.

Levels 30-32
Finish up your Tarren Mill quests, then grab the Rod of Heracular quest from the undead apprentice in the graveyard beside the ruined church. Then head over to the Darrow Cave and grind the living crap out of those yetis. Before I got the rod, I was level 33 and the Yeti’s still yielded good exp. Turn the rod quest in for a suitable 2100-3000 exp and continue the chain if you want.

Levels 32-34
I fluctuated between STV and Arathi for these. Start the Mok’Thardin quest chain in Grom’gol, as you’ll be working towards it for the next 6 levels. In Arathi, do the Guile of the Raptor quests. 37 raptors should be no problem for you if you handle them right.

Levels 34-36
I was mainly in STV here, grinding away at the STV bloodscalp quests. I had 4 which required me to kill, kill and kill. From those 4 and the 2 hours of grinding it took to get the items, I was 36. Fastest two levels for a long time.

Levels 36-38
Continue expaning on with the Nesingwary hunting quests, dont bother with the Green Hills quests, the rewards arent worth nearly as much as the time and effort you put into it. However, if you’re really interested, go grind the goblin geologists over near Lake Nazerfeti (or something like that). I had two 16
slot bags full just with pages, sold majority for around 1g each while I did a quest i picked up in the BB tavern near the FP.

Levels 38-40
Level 38 wasn’t so bad, as I finished the Mok’Thardin and the Nesingwary chains, getting a decent set from the reward. I mainly just grinded on ogres for the 6 or so bubbles which remained afterwards. 39, however, is one of the longest grinds (or so it felt) i’ve had for a long time. I tried jungle stalkers and SM runs. Jungle stalkers were okay, but without rest the grind is a long one, and you’ll often find yourself at the wrong side of a claw/blade. I got ganked a total of 89 times while I grinded this level, and it took me 7h and 15m to finish it.

A few quick notes about grinding:

When moving to these areas, make sure you pick up the migration quests (such as the Desolace one who gives you a horn to take to Nesingwary, which starts that chain effectively) as they yield anywhere from 200 exp to a whopping 3000 exp (nearly 2 whole bubbles at 34).

Also, invest in enhancement potions. Elixirs of Greater > are a great way to add DPS and reduce downtime. 5g for 5 EoGA knocked about 2 hours off my grinding with the quite decent 7dps buff it gave.

Everytime you visit a town, refill your ammo/knives, whatever. It isnt worth breaking the rhythm of a good grind because something broke or you’re out of ammo.

Only ever pick up kill or gather from kill quests. Migration are okay, but take them just as you’re done with that area.

Dustwallow Marsh is a waste of time.
