How To Gold Farm in WoW When Your Character is Low-Level (1-40)
Posted on 24. Mar, 2010 by MMORPG Fan in Free WoW Guides
A common practice with WoW players is that they wait till they’re level 40 before they’ll start to figure out how to make money. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you’ll start to discover that you’ll need money to buy items and to skill-up long before you’re level 40. So here’s some gold farming ideas that you can use if your character is still low-level (levels 1-40).
Create an Alt character
Alt characters aren’t just for WoW pros – anyone and everyone should use this feature, primarily because it can save you so much time. Alt characters can be used as delivery boys that help you bring your loot to the auction house, so that your main character can just concentrate on the questing and grinding. To use an alt in this manner is simple – you just need to give any items that you find to your alt, so that when you log on as the Alt, you can simply go to the auction house and sell off the stuff. For this to work effectively, you should keep your alt somewhere near the Auction house. The inn is the best, because then you’re both near the auction house, and can get 4x rest experience points.
Farming Cloth
One straightforward method to make money when you’re still at a low level is to farm cloth. The demand for cloth is crazy and you can choose between the various types of cloths available. You can choose linen cloth from level 1, wool cloth from level 14, and silk cloth from level 28. You should keep some cloth for yourself too, as you need them to create slot bags with.
Linen cloth (and sometimes wool) is dropped from about every humanoid when you’re below level 20. However, the best drops are found at Ragefure Chasm, Ghostlands, and Thousand Needles.
Sell During Weekends, Buy During Weekdays
Everyone is online during the weekends, and if you have know any economics, that’s when you should start selling your stuff. This means that you might get some nice drops during the weekday, but if you can, don’t start selling them until Saturday or Sunday.

This are just some gold farming tips. For the more effective tips and the strategies that elite WoW players use to farm gold (even at low levels), I highly recommend Luke Brown’s Gold Guide. The amount of gold that you can get is crazy!
